Matthew Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the hit TV show Friends, recently made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. During his chat with Norton, Perry reminisced about his time on Friends and revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes stories.

When asked if there was a specific episode of Friends where he knew the show would be a hit, Perry mentioned the episode where there was a blackout in New York City. In that episode, Chandler finds himself stuck in an ATM vestibule with Jill Goodaker, played by actress Jill Goodacre. Perry recalls that the audience’s laughter and the overall feel of the episode made him realize that Friends was something special.

Interestingly, Perry also shared that he initially couldn’t audition for Friends due to his involvement in another TV show about baggage handlers in the year 2197 (which, unfortunately, didn’t get picked up). However, he helped his friends with their auditions for Friends, particularly for the role of Chandler, which was similar to his own personality. Eventually, once his other show got canceled, Perry was allowed to join the cast of Friends as Chandler Bing.

Moving on to a fun segment of the show, the topic of the famous Friends quiz episode came up. Norton challenged Perry to remember the answers to Chandler-related questions in the quiz. Some of the questions revolved around Chandler’s fears and his father’s all-male burlesque show. Perry impressively remembered the answers to most of the questions, proving that even years after the show’s end, he still has a deep knowledge of his character.

Finally, when asked about Chandler’s job throughout the series, Perry admitted that it was never explicitly mentioned on the show. However, a member of the audience correctly guessed that Chandler’s job was statistical analysis and data reconfiguration, to which Perry responded with praise for her knowledge.

Matthew Perry‘s appearance on The Graham Norton Show was filled with nostalgic moments and interesting revelations about his time on Friends. As fans continue to fondly remember the iconic sitcom, Perry’s anecdotes bring back the joy and laughter that the show brought to millions of viewers worldwide.
