James then dropped the bombshell that Mayim doesn’t like musicals, which left him a little disturbed. Mayim responded by saying that while she believes there is something for everyone, musicals just aren’t her thing. She finds it strange when people start talking and then suddenly break into song.
As James and Mayim bantered back and forth, she explained that she prefers realistic scenarios like talking in a three-walled apartment, as opposed to over-the-top musical numbers. Mayim even shared an awkward story about attending a performance of Rent with her friend Neil Patrick Harris in it. She admitted that she didn’t enjoy the show and didn’t want to stand up for the standing ovation at the end. Unfortunately, Neil saw her and questioned why she didn’t stand, resulting in an embarrassing encounter backstage.
Despite her dislike for musicals, Mayim acknowledged that many people love them and that’s perfectly fine. She believes that everyone has different tastes, and musicals simply don’t resonate with her. James jokingly suggested that she should take her teenage boys, who are introverted and cerebral, to a musical to shake things up.
Apart from the discussion about musicals, Mayim also talked about her new gig as the host of Jeopardy!. She expressed her enjoyment of the job, mentioning that she gets to learn new things every day and meet people who possess vast knowledge.
