On a recent episode of the popular talk show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, host Ellen Degeneres surprised a deserving family from Pennsylvania by renovating their kitchen. The heartwarming segment, called “House and Do It For,” turned out to be more than just a simple kitchen makeover.
During the show, a clip was played of Linda Walsh from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, explaining the challenges she faced with her kitchen. One of the main problems was a missing drawer, which made it difficult for Linda to efficiently use her kitchen space. She expressed her hope that Ellen could help fix the issue.
To everyone’s delight, Ellen sent her trusted contractor, Hon, to Pennsylvania to assist Linda. Armed with his tools and determination, Hon arrived at Linda’s house ready to tackle the kitchen drawer problem. However, it quickly became apparent that he was willing to do much more than just fix a drawer.
While Linda was running errands, Hon took the initiative to not only repair the drawer but also transform other areas of the kitchen. He painted the cabinets, recommended a color from the Bare Premium Paint collection, and even added a touch of style with a Hampton Bay lamp.
Linda’s worry about leaving Hon alone in her house vanished when she returned to find an incredible kitchen makeover. The missing drawer was fixed, but that was just the beginning. Linda was amazed to discover a new refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster oven, stove, hood, microwave, and coffee maker. Additionally, Hon had added three light fixtures, an area rug, crown molding, trim, curtains, and two Ottomans to complete the new look.
The Walsh family, including Linda, Tim, and their two daughters Mallerie and Emily, could hardly believe the transformation. It was like stepping into a brand-new kitchen, vastly different from what they had originally expected. The unexpected makeover provided by Hon and The Ellen Degeneres Show truly turned their kitchen into a dream space.
Home Depot generously provided the Walshes with the entire kitchen renovation, while Linens and Things supplied all the accessories. Together, they created a stunning and functional kitchen that exceeded the family’s expectations.
Adjusting to the new kitchen took some time for Linda, who found herself going back and forth between her bedroom and the kitchen, checking out all the details she might have missed initially. In fact, Ellen jokingly mentioned the need to send Hon back to finish the garage, as there were some lingering spackling work left to do.
At the end of the segment, Ellen expressed her gratitude to the Walsh family for being part of the show and enjoying their new kitchen. Marie Calendars also contributed to the episode by providing a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings for the audience members. As a charitable gesture, they also donated 200 pies to the Los Angeles food bank.
The surprise kitchen renovation on The Ellen Degeneres Show not only brought joy to the Walsh family but also showcased the generosity of both Home Depot and Linens and Things. With Hon’s handy skills and Ellen’s dedication to making a difference, this episode proved that a talk show can go beyond just entertaining to positively impacting lives.
