Chef Christina Tosi and Will Guidara recently made a delicious treat on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The guests, who have five James Beard Awards between them, showcased their culinary skills and shared their expertise in the talk show.
Christina Tosi, the founder of Milk Bar, and Will Guidara, the author of the best-selling book “Unreasonable Hospitality,” were welcomed with cheers and applause. This was a special moment for fans, as it was the first time they appeared together on a show.
Jimmy Fallon, visibly excited about their presence, expressed his admiration for the duo. Fallon described Tosi and Guidara as two of the most creative and coolest humans. He congratulated them on their relationship and marriage, expressing his happiness for the couple on Valentine’s Day.
The segment focused on creating a delicious Valentine’s Day treat – chocolate-covered strawberry caramel snaps. Tosi introduced the audience to the concept of “snap,” a cookie with layers of a snappy wafer, flavored caramel gooey center, something crunchy, dipped in chocolate, and covered in strawberry sugar. It was a perfect representation of Valentine’s Day, with the classic flavor of a chocolate-covered strawberry.
Guidara and Fallon joined Tosi in the cooking process. They demonstrated how to assemble the snaps, starting with a chocolate wafer and adding strawberry caramel to it. The wafer was then dipped into dark chocolate and covered in strawberry sanding sugar, resulting in a glossy and beautiful cookie.
Fallon playfully compared himself to Salt Bae, a famous chef known for his unique salt sprinkling technique. The audience enthusiastically cheered on the segment, showing their excitement for the delicious creation.
In addition to showcasing their culinary skills, Fallon also congratulated Guidara on his book, “Unreasonable Hospitality.” He praised the book and even mentioned seeing it featured in an episode of “The Bear.” Guidara explained that dream weaving is a concept discussed in his book, which is about creating personalized experiences that go beyond just serving food in the restaurant industry.
As a surprise treat, Tosi and Guidara prepared two extra snaps. They made a Fruity Pebble snap for Questlove, who shares Tosi’s love for cereal. It featured a vanilla wafer with Fruity Pebble ganache, dunked in white chocolate and topped with more cereal. Fallon, known for his love of Skor bars, had a Skor bar-inspired snap. It included a milk chocolate wafer with vanilla caramel and homemade toffee bits hidden inside. Fallon enthusiastically enjoyed the creation.
To spread the love of Milk Bar and “Unreasonable Hospitality,” Tosi and Guidara announced that the entire audience would receive a Milk Bar Valentine’s Day cookie and a copy of Guidara’s book.
The segment ended with a happy Valentine’s Day wish from Tosi and Guidara. The audience was left with a sweet treat and a delightful talk show experience.
