On a recent episode of The Ellen Degeneres Show, Ellen went on a mission to explore the smallest apartments in NYC. As she ventured out to uncover these cozy living spaces, she was determined to find out how people manage to fit into such tiny homes in a city known for its massive population.
Ellen met up with Elijah, who invited her into his minuscule apartment. With just enough space for a bed, he humorously shared how he marks the days on his bedroom wall until he can escape the confines of his dwelling. Elijah pays a whopping $1,100 a month in rent, without utilities, for this cramped space. Ellen even jokes that if they held hands and stretched out, they could touch both walls.
Next, Ellen made her way to another tiny apartment, this time belonging to Megan. This apartment was quite the challenge to locate. After climbing up several flights of stairs, they finally arrived at Megan’s abode. She has been living there for two years and pays a surprisingly affordable $725 a month in rent. Ellen couldn’t resist adding her own touch to Megan’s kitchen by redecorating it with a bed. The result was a hilarious scene as Ellen playfully jumped on the bed, transforming Megan’s kitchen into a playful space.
Lastly, Ellen explored Dana’s apartment, which she had only been living in for a couple of months. Dana pays a mere $500 a month for this extremely compact living space. To everyone’s surprise, this one-room apartment doesn’t even have a toilet inside. Dana has to leave her apartment and go across the hall just to use the bathroom. Ellen playfully suggested that Dana should consider turning the spare room across the hall into her own personal bathroom.
Despite the lack of space, Ellen managed to bring a sense of fun and joy to each of these cramped apartments. In true Ellen fashion, she brought laughter and entertainment to these New York City residents. As a special treat, Ellen surprised all three residents with a $1,000 American Express gift card.
The exploration of these tiny apartments on The Ellen Degeneres Show showcased not only the challenges people face when it comes to living in a bustling city like New York but also their ability to find joy and make the best of their limited space. It’s safe to say that these homeowners truly embraced the saying, “good things come in small packages.”
