During a recent episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, actor Danny DeVito opened up about one of the most memorable scenes he filmed for the hit sitcom Always Sunny in Philadelphia. DeVito, known for his roles in films like Twins and Matilda, has been a part of the long-running show for an impressive thirteen years.
Talking about the show’s edgy nature, DeVito revealed that the writers often challenge themselves to come up with outrageous situations that will shock viewers. “We do a lot of great things and tackle a lot of good subjects. Anything you can think of that’s gonna really shock people, we do it,” he said.
When discussing a specific episode, DeVito recounted a particularly memorable scene where his character, Frank, emerges from a couch. “The idea was that Frank, my character, was going to hide in a couch to find out what people were saying at a cocktail party,” he explained. The twist? DeVito had to be sewn into a leather couch and had to come out of it naked. “It was so hot in there, and I had to come out like four or five times. It was quite the experience,” he said.
DeVito also touched on his upcoming projects, including a potential sequel to Twins called Triplets. He hinted at the possibility of Eddie Murphy joining the cast alongside him and Arnold Schwarzenegger. “That would be fun. Eddie Murphy is a very fun guy,” DeVito said.
The actor also shared some insight into his friendship with Schwarzenegger, recalling their time working together on Twins. “We had a great time on Twins. He introduced me to smoking cigars, and we used to work out together. We had a really strong bond,” he said.
Overall, DeVito’s appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show was filled with entertaining anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories. Fans of Always Sunny in Philadelphia and DeVito’s work can catch the episode on Netflix and witness the hilarious couch scene for themselves.
