British distance runner Mo Farah revealed exciting plans for the Tokyo 2021 Olympics during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. Farah, who has already won gold medals in London and Rio, discussed his hopes of defending his title in the 10,000 meters race.
During the interview, Farah also mentioned his four children and how they each have their own unique interests. Armani, his drama queen, loves to read, while Asia is sporty and quiet. Hussein, the youngest, has a natural talent for sports, especially football. And Rihanna, the character of the family, loves singing and is even teaching Farah how to use certain video apps.
When asked if any of his children showed interest in following in his footsteps as athletes, Farah expressed his support for their pursuits but emphasized the importance of not pushing them too much. He shared his own experience of initially hating running and only getting into it because of his PE teacher and newfound friends at a local club.
As for his own training, Farah revealed his plans to go to Ethiopia for high-altitude training in the mountains. He intends to base himself there for at least two months, starting in January, in preparation for the Olympics at the end of July. Farah recently switched back to the 10,000 meters distance, aiming to hold on to his gold medal.
The decision to postpone the Olympics by a year due to the pandemic has presented Farah with both challenges and opportunities. He sees the extra time as a chance to return to the track and continue his success after exploring marathons. Although he made progress in the marathon events, he emphasized the difficulties and differences between track and long-distance running.
Farah also shared a humorous anecdote about his Christmas Day run. Normally training twice a day, he planned to go for a short run in the morning, covering approximately 10 to 12 miles in just over an hour. Farah even joked about the shape his running route formed on the exercise app, prompting him to create a “phallic” shape the next day for fun.
With his dedication, determination, and previous achievements, Mo Farah‘s Tokyo 2021 Olympic campaign promises to be an exhilarating journey for both himself and his fans. As he heads into training camp and prepares himself for another shot at gold, all eyes will be on this exceptional athlete to see if he can defend his title and add to his illustrious career.
