The Graham Norton Show took a trip down memory lane recently, as they unearthed an old video of a young actor winning a contest on the show. The video, which featured a very young Saoirse Ronan, showed her winning a trip to Florida during her summer holidays.
Ronan, who was around 9 or 10 years old at the time, had never entered a competition like this before. The contest required participants to call in as a character from the movie Shrek 2 and explain why they deserved the holiday. Ronan, with her father’s encouragement, decided to give it a try. Armed with a tiny notepad and a script, she phoned in as the Gingerbread Man. Five days later, she received the call that they had won.
During the episode, Ronan also shared her excitement and reaction to winning the trip. She described it as a surreal moment and even mentioned receiving a blow-up donkey as a prize during the vacation. The host, Graham Norton, jokingly commented that he expected her to react similarly when she eventually won an Oscar.
But Ronan wasn’t the only celebrity to share amusing stories on the talk show. Actor Ryan Reynolds delighted the audience with a hilarious tale about his son and the rule of swearing while fishing. Reynolds shared that swearing was permitted when fishing, and his son took advantage of this rule after accidentally getting poked by a fish’s fin. The young boy exclaimed, “That stupid bass is a [expletive]!”
Tom Hiddleston also joined in on the fun, revealing a comical anecdote from his school days. Hiddleston mentioned how he performed in a school production alongside Eddie Redmayne, who even back then was a talented actor. Hiddleston recalled playing the front right leg of an elephant, with Redmayne sitting on a table pretending to be the elephant.
The talk show also featured other entertaining stories from guests such as Ryan Gosling, Kevin Hart, Margot Robbie, and Daniel Radcliffe. Gosling shared his childhood experience of participating in a dance competition where he outshone his competition, and Hart discussed taking his kids back to his old neighborhood to teach them the value of hard work. Robbie admitted her love for the Harry Potter series and revealed that her husband was an extra in the films. Radcliffe, on the other hand, admitted to never finishing the final Harry Potter book, which shocked the audience.
The Graham Norton Show continues to be a platform for celebrities to share their hilarious and intriguing stories, showcasing the lighter side of the entertainment industry. From childhood memories to embarrassing moments, the show offers a glimpse into the lives of some of the most well-known stars in the business.
