In a recent episode of the popular talk show, The Jonathan Ross Show, actor and comedian Stephen Merchant had the audience in fits of laughter with his hilarious anecdotes and quick wit.

Merchant, who is known for his tall stature and distinctive look, shared a story about being recognized in the most unexpected of places – Dubrovnik. While filming in the city, he had an unfortunate encounter with oysters that left him in excruciating pain. After calling a doctor for assistance, Merchant was surprised to find out that the doctor recognized him and asked for a selfie. Despite being in agony, he obliged and even joked about potentially needing the doctor’s help again.

But the laughter didn’t stop there. Merchant also revealed that he and his wife had a ghostly encounter at their 16th-century house near Stonehenge. In the middle of the night, both of them woke up to see a woman and a child standing in the corner of their bedroom. Surprisingly, the woman turned out to be his wife, and they discovered that they had both seen the same apparition. Host Jonathan Ross playfully suggested that perhaps the ghost had been taken aback by the absence of a television in Sting’s bedroom, to which Sting jokingly defended his choice.

Aside from the ghostly encounters, Merchant also discussed his new movie, “A Boy Called Christmas,” which is currently in theaters. The film tells the origin story of Santa Claus and features Merchant as the voice of a mouse. Despite the animated nature of the character, the filmmakers used Merchant’s facial expressions to bring the mouse to life. However, Merchant admitted that filming with the contraption on his head was challenging, especially since he had to take off his glasses and was practically blind without them.

Merchant’s appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show showcased his comedic talent and left the audience wanting more. With his sharp wit and engaging storytelling, it’s no wonder why he continues to be a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
