During a recent interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the talented Peter Dinklage shared an amusing tidbit from his high school days that had the audience laughing. Colbert began by displaying a photograph of Dinklage during his high school years, revealing a brooding, goth-like persona. Colbert was curious about Dinklage’s scene back then, and the actor candidly admitted to sporting high hair and black velvet capes. “I fancied myself a writer,” Dinklage confessed.

But what caught Colbert’s attention was Dinklage’s missing senior year quote. Apparently, the quote he chose was, in his own words, “pretty pretentious.” Dinklage revealed that his quote was from Sam Shepard, one of the greatest playwrights of all time: “Words are the tools of imagery and motion.” While Dinklage admitted that the quote was a bit too highbrow for a senior yearbook, he humorously suggested he could have gone with something like “Guns and Roses” instead.

Colbert then steered the conversation towards Dinklage’s involvement in Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). Dinklage confirmed that he was indeed a D&D fan, but clarified that he never served as a dungeon master (DM) because it required a lot of work and patience. According to Dinklage, being a DM meant putting up with a fair amount of nonsense from the player characters. When asked if he had a favorite character he played, Dinklage admitted that he gave up the game before high school. He started in seventh grade but eventually moved on to other interests.

As the interview progressed, Dinklage revealed another surprising fact about his high school years – he used to wrestle! However, he later decided that wrestling was not for him and gave it up, along with Dungeons and Dragons. Colbert jokingly commented, “You were cool,” to which Dinklage responded, “That’s what separates us.”

The interview concluded with a lighthearted Thanksgiving-related question. While Colbert promised not to ask about Thanksgiving traditions, he did pose one crucial query to Dinklage: Do you call it dressing or stuffing? Without skipping a beat, Dinklage confidently answered, “Stuffing.” The audience erupted in laughter, appreciating his swift response.

With his down-to-earth humor and charismatic presence, Peter Dinklage proved once again why he is a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Fans can catch him in his latest movie, The Hunger Games: Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes, which is currently playing in theaters.
