He explained that runners had to use it strategically to avoid chafing in certain areas. Bateman’s description of the uncomfortable moments had the audience laughing along.

As the conversation continued, Bateman discussed his love for smoking, admitting that he had quit for four years before starting again while working on the show. He acknowledged the health risks but said he planned to quit again in March when training for the New York Marathon began.

Ellen then expressed her admiration for Arrested Development, calling it a smart and clever show. Bateman humbly credited the talented writers, particularly show creator Mitch Hurwitz, for their intricate and humorous storylines. He explained that the show aimed to make people laugh, but it also showcased the writers’ intelligence.
