On a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, stand-up comedian Dusty Slay had the audience in stitches with his hilarious anecdotes about closed hotel pools and airport security. Slay, known for his quick wit and Southern charm, left no topic untouched during his appearance on the chat show.

Slay began his set by reminiscing about his childhood and his love for playing sports. However, being from Alabama, his father wasn’t too keen on him playing soccer. In fact, Slay joked that his dad would have preferred him doing drugs instead of playing the sport.

The comedian then shifted gears to share a personal story about his unfortunate experiences with cologne. Despite wearing it regularly, Slay noticed that people were never particularly impressed with his choice of fragrance. Instead of compliments, he often received raised eyebrows and curious glances. Nonetheless, Slay didn’t let that dampen his spirits and continued to entertain the audience with his self-deprecating humor.

Switching to travel tales, Slay described the disappointment of checking into a hotel only to find that the pool was closed. Even though he didn’t plan to swim, the closed pool somehow gave the impression that the place was rundown. He humorously narrated the scenario of opening the door to the pool area, pretending to smell chlorine, and sarcastically commenting about burning eyes.

The comedian then moved on to airport security, expressing his mixed feelings towards the X-ray machines and body scanners. Slay playfully recreated the process of standing with arms raised as the machine scanned his body for hidden items. He amusingly questioned what the scanners were detecting and jokingly suggested that he might have some undiagnosed medical condition since they always seemed to find something.

In Nashville, Slay encountered newer, supposedly more precise X-ray machines for luggage. While slower, they were said to be able to differentiate between a candle and a stick of C-4 explosive. Slay couldn’t help but find it amusing that for years, people had potentially been sneaking dangerous items through security in innocent-looking candle bags.

The comedian also touched upon the presence of sniffer dogs at airports and their choice of prohibited substances. With a humorous tone, Slay pondered what exactly the dogs were searching for, ruling out the possibility of it being weed. He then recounted a time when airport security confiscated a jar of honey from his bag, leaving him perplexed as to why honey posed a potential hazard. Slay made light of the situation, joking that he often spilled honey anyway and found it amusing how the security officials reacted as if he had a stash of candles when they found the jar.

In the end, Slay entertained the audience with his unique blend of observational humor and relatable anecdotes. His laid-back and personable style left everyone laughing and eager for more. Fans can catch Dusty Slay on The Night Shift Tour at the Miller Theater in Philadelphia on February 1st.
