On a recent episode of The Jonathan Ross Show, actress Bella Ramsey showcased her impressive jiu-jitsu skills, inspired by her role in the hit video game adaptation, “The Last of Us.” The talk show host, Jonathan Ross, couldn’t hide his excitement as he discussed the highly anticipated new season of the series.
Ramsey, who plays a character immune to a fungal virus in the post-apocalyptic world of “The Last of Us,” shared some details about the intense filming process. The cast spent seven months shooting in Vancouver, and Ramsey admitted that the second season was particularly challenging.
With an average viewership of 32 million per episode, “The Last of Us” has gained a massive following. However, Ramsey acknowledged that some people might still be unaware of the series. She described the show as set in a future post-apocalyptic America, where her character joins forces with Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, after he inadvertently kills a group of people in the first season.
During the interview, Ross asked Ramsey if she performed her own stunts in the series. Ramsey proudly confirmed that she did her own stunts in the first season and continued to do so in the second. She divulged that fight training was a crucial part of her preparation, involving boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and weapon handling, including carrying heavy guns.
Curious about Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Ross questioned Ramsey further. He compared it to a dance form called “capoeira,” but Ramsey corrected him. She explained that Brazilian jiu-jitsu focuses on using an opponent’s weight and momentum against them. Impressed with her knowledge, Ross asked if she could take him down using those skills, to which Ramsey confidently replied, “Yes, I would.”
To demonstrate her jiu-jitsu prowess, Ramsey agreed to take Ross down, causing excitement among the audience. A crash mat was brought onto the set, and Ramsey effortlessly executed her technique, leaving Ross impressed and slightly in awe.
Although the air date of the episode isn’t mentioned, this teaser of Bella Ramsey‘s jiu-jitsu skills on The Jonathan Ross Show has undoubtedly left viewers excited for both “The Last of Us” and any future action-packed roles from the talented young actress.
