The Jonathan Ross Show recently featured a guest appearance by the talented and charming Alexander Skarsgård. Known for his roles in Zoolander, True Blood, and the hit movie Tarzan, Skarsgård has been dubbed Sweden’s sexiest man five times (beating even the Swedish Chef from The Muppets!).
During the interview, Skarsgård looked dashing in a soft, toweling cashmere suit. Jonathan Ross asked him about his experience filming Tarzan and how he achieved such a muscular physique for the role. Skarsgård revealed that preparing for the movie was intense and required strict dieting. In fact, for the first three months, he had to consume a whopping 7,000 calories per day to bulk up. Skarsgård even shared that he would eat a cold steak and potatoes at 3 AM to punish himself and make the process more challenging.
However, despite the effort, Skarsgård admitted that he found all the muscle-building boring. As a result, he lost the Tarzan physique after the film wrapped up. Skarsgård humorously quipped, “Where’s it going? It’s a lot of muscle.”
Skarsgård also discussed the pressure of taking on such an iconic role as Tarzan. Being a fan of the character himself, thanks to his dad introducing him to the original Tarzan movies, Skarsgård felt the weight of living up to the past portrayals. However, he managed to find his own interpretation and make the character his own.
It’s interesting to note that Skarsgård’s journey into acting was not a predetermined one. In Sweden, he started off as a child actor by chance when his dad’s friend needed a seven-year-old for a movie. Skarsgård continued acting in Sweden until his early teens but then decided to step away from the spotlight. For eight years, he didn’t pursue acting at all, but eventually, he found his way back to the industry.
Recently, Skarsgård starred in the bold comedy film War on Everyone. In this movie, he plays a cop named Terry who has questionable morals. Skarsgård explained that he had been searching for the right comedy role and was instantly captivated by the script. War on Everyone takes risks and pushes boundaries, but Skarsgård saw it as an exciting opportunity to do something different.
Aside from his incredible acting talent, Skarsgård also showcased his willingness to have fun and take risks when he attended the premiere of Diary of a Teenage Girl. He showed up wearing an outfit inspired by Farrah Fawcett, complete with heels and a wig. Skarsgård chose to embrace the moment and have a blast alongside drag queens and other guests, even going as far as tucking his male equipment for a smooth line.
During the interview, Skarsgård also mentioned playing a game with Britney Spears on a previous television appearance. Ross asked him if there was a chance of kissing Skarsgård, to which he responded that it wasn’t staged at all. Skarsgård teasingly added that he finally got to kiss someone taller than himself.
Alexander Skarsgård‘s appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show was undoubtedly a memorable one. From discussing his punishing workout routine to his love for taking risks in his career, Skarsgård showcased his charisma and versatility. Fans can look forward to seeing him in his latest film, War on Everyone, and can continue to admire his ability to captivate audiences both on and off the screen.
