In a recent episode of “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” American talk show host James Corden created a Drag Queen Jubilee in celebration of the platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in the United Kingdom. Joining him were American drag royalty, RuPaul, and actress Vanessa Bayer, who lent a hand in transforming the show’s staff members into queens for the night.
The show kicked off with the excited cheers of the audience as James introduced the drag queens-in-training. The Late Late Show’s costume and glam team worked their magic, creating stunning looks for each participant. First up was Late Late Show talent coordinator Carter, who believed he could win Drag Race if given the chance. Carter graced the stage as a classic queen, leaving everyone speechless with his fabulous transformation.
Next in line was the show’s producer, Dave, who thought it would be fun to give drag a try in honor of Pride. Donning his Trooping the Color queen look, Dave commanded attention as he sashayed down the runway.
Andrew, the show’s ministry coordinator, may have never done drag before, but his childhood experimentation with his sister’s bra couldn’t stop him from becoming the glorious garden party queen. His floral ensemble garnered praise from both Vanessa and RuPaul, the latter suggesting he was ready to rule.
Producer Robin Gala took the stage next as the delicious green queen. His modern look, complete with vibrant colors and pink hair, exuded an air of confidence fit for a night out on the town.
Finally, production designer Lou, who had dabbled in drag before, took on the role of the coronation queen. With a luxurious robe and a regal presence that stunned everyone, Lou became the epitome of royalty.
After showcasing their individual walks and poses, it was time for the judges, Vanessa and RuPaul, to deliberate and choose a winner. The criteria for judgment were walk, pose, and overall queenliness. As the tension rose, the audience couldn’t help but wait in anticipation.
With a wave of excitement, RuPaul announced the winner of the Late Late Show drag queen jubilee – Carter, the confident and sweet Queen Splenda. As the crowd erupted in applause, the first and last annual Late Late Show jubilee came to a close.
Congratulations to all the queens who participated in this unforgettable night of glamour and entertainment. The Late Late Show jubilee was a roaring success, thanks to Vanessa Bayer, RuPaul, and the talented staff who transformed into royalty for a night.
As we eagerly await the next jaw-dropping and fabulous moments on The Late Late Show with James Corden, let’s hope for more surprises, laughter, and dazzling performances from the biggest stars in Hollywood and beyond.
