The Late Show with Stephen Colbert had another eventful episode filled with laughter and entertainment. Host Stephen Colbert wasted no time diving into the latest political news, including Donald Trump‘s fundraising tactics for his legal fees. In a recent email to supporters, Trump used the subject line “Haul out the guillotine,” which raised a few eyebrows. But Trump also showed his softer side by sending another email with the subject line “I love you.” It seems like Trump’s campaign is trying to appeal to all emotions, from anger to affection.

But it’s not just fundraising that Trump is focused on. He is also in the process of selecting a vice presidential candidate. Some of the top contenders include Marco Rubio, JD Vance, and Tim Scott. However, one name that is notably missing from the list is South Dakota Governor Christine Noem. Despite her best efforts, including sending Trump a box of puppy dog eyes, she didn’t make the cut. On the other hand, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is being considered as a top VP contender. Known for his fun and quirky details such as working as a chimney sweep in college, Burgum might just bring some entertainment and GOP talking points to the ticket.

Moving on to the Supreme Court, conservative Justice Clarence Thomas has found himself in hot water. Last year, it was revealed that he had accepted two undisclosed luxury trips from Texas billionaire Harlan Crow. Thomas initially denied these reports, but recently, he amended his 2019 disclosure, acknowledging the trips and claiming they were inadvertently omitted. It seems like Thomas might have some explaining to do, especially since it was found that the value of the gifts he has received over the years is nearly ten times more than his fellow justices.

In the tech world, there is both excitement and concern about the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). One expert has estimated a 99.9% chance of AI leading to human extinction within the next hundred years. While this might sound alarming, let’s not forget that AI was also responsible for creating a picture of Scooby-Doo making out with Ronald Reagan on a jet ski. So, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Apple has also announced that it will be integrating AI into its core apps and devices starting this fall. From monitoring alcohol intake before bed to creating custom emojis, Apple‘s AI, known as Apple Intelligence, aims to make our lives easier and more connected.

Meanwhile, across the pond, British editors have been making their way into American news media, including notable figures such as CNN‘s CEO Mark Thompson, The Wall Street Journal’s editor-in-chief Emma Tucker, and Bloomberg News’ editor-in-chief John Micklethwait. However, this British invasion has caused a scandal at the Washington Post, where CEO Will Lewis, a former employee of Rupert Murdoch’s British tabloids, has been accused of covering up illegal phone hacking. Lewis had a questionable reputation even before joining the Washington Post, and it seems like things haven’t changed much since then.

As Father’s Day approaches, Colbert couldn’t resist taking a playful jab at the holiday. He introduced a faux product called Clear Dad, a pregnancy test for dads. With humorous questions like “What is your favorite Ken Burns documentary?”, Clear Dad aims to provide a lighthearted take on fatherhood. After all, who doesn’t want to know if they’re going to be a dad while enjoying a giant ice cube?

Overall, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert continues to offer a mix of wit, political humor, and amusing anecdotes. With each episode, Colbert keeps us entertained and eager for more. Don’t miss tonight’s guest, Jude Law, and a performance by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Stay tuned for more laughs and surprises on The Late Show.
