On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Sarah Bock, who plays Miss Wong on the hit show Severance, sat down for an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. The young actress shared some interesting insights about her role on the show, her experience on set, and how she’s been recognized by fans.
At just 15 years old, Bock auditioned for the role of Miss Wong, the young Deputy Manager on Severance. Despite her age, Bock impressed the casting directors and landed the part. Although she hadn’t seen the show before, her parents were huge fans and were thrilled about her casting. They even read the scripts to find out what would happen ahead of time.
During the interview, Kimmel asked Bock about her college experience. She revealed that she is currently studying theater at Northwestern University, with a potential double major in psychology. However, she admitted that she’s still figuring out how to officially declare the double major.
Being recognized on campus has been a new experience for Bock. Initially, she intentionally kept her role on Severance a secret to get to know people. But once the news got out, students would approach her in the dining hall and express their love for the show. Even when she goes downtown, families recognize her and discuss fan theories.
Speaking of fan theories, Bock revealed that there have been some interesting ones thrown her way. Some fans believe her character, Miss Wong, is a clone or a robot. Others speculate that she may be the child of Mark and Hel. Bock admitted that she knows very little about what’s to come in the show and enjoys hearing the theories from fans.
When it comes to her co-stars, Bock shared that she was already familiar with Adam Scott‘s work, as she was a big fan of The Good Place. As for Ben Stiller, she didn’t realize until looking up his IMDb that she had seen him in numerous projects throughout her life.
Bock also gave some behind-the-scenes insights into the set of Severance. She mentioned that the constantly changing walls and rearranged sets often left her lost on her way to different scenes. Despite the show’s retro setting, Bock revealed that the props, such as the vintage computers, were new to her. There was even a scene with a phone on her desk that she had to ask her co-star for instructions on how to use.
Throughout the interview, Kimmel praised Bock for her performance on Severance, suggesting that she doesn’t need any acting classes. However, Bock humbly acknowledged that she still has a lot to learn.
Fans of Severance can catch Sarah Bock as Miss Wong on Apple TV Plus. With her talent and youthful energy, it’s clear that Bock is a rising star worth keeping an eye on.
